In the life of a volcano, no star has ever been seen to die.
2019. Video-mapping. Immersive sound.

The work consists of a large video installation recorded with a high-resolution 360-degree camera from the point of view of the artist while hiking a volcano with great difficulty. A portable device was used to register the heartbeat frequency of the artist while climbing.

The playback velocity of the video, as seen in the exhibition space, is programmed to change in response to the climber’s heartbeat affected by the geography, available oxygen, and stamina: as the heart frequency rises because of the effort, the video slows down accordingly. Simultaneously, a low-pitched sound (almost a vibration) consistent with the climber's heartbeat, speeds up. As a result, the perception of time expands while the perceived effort increases. The heartbeat becomes a vital force that affects both the video and the experience of the viewer.

The work was projected vertically and mapped to a 12-meter wall inside the Laboratorio Arte Alameda
